Learning opportunities

FuturHist offers multiple opportunities to expand the knowledge and experience of professionals working in the energy renovation sector of historic buildings.

This section will provide all the necessary guidance on making the most of opportunities throughout the project’s duration.

Thematic workshops and webinars

We will organise six online workshops and webinars on technical, financial, and policy topics related to the FuturHist project’s results.

Date: to be announced

Capacity Building Program

It is a two-step capacity-building programme for practitioners and emerging professionals from diverse target groups (i.e., architects, engineers, building sector specialists).

The programme’s first stage will be a 1.5-month e-learning course open to all interested parties. It will build knowledge and enable the participants to exchange best practices. FuturHist’s academic and technological partners will prepare training materials for the course and be part of the teaching team. This stage’s best and most engaged alums will be invited to the programme’s second stage.

The second stage will be the European Summer Academy on the Refurbishment of Historic Buildings, an intensive, interactive, 7-day practical training. The participants will work on actual case buildings planned to be renovated by the local municipality to develop the refurbishment/retrofit concept in dialogue with local stakeholders.
With contributions from all partners, ICOMOS and the Sendzimir Foundation will lead the Capacity Building Program.

Date: Spring-Summer 2026

Demonstration Cases Open Days

The demo-case leaders will organise guided visits to the demonstration sites, allowing selected stakeholders (end-users and decision-makers) to learn about the solutions implemented as a result of the multiple activities within the FuturHist project.

Knowledge-HUB-based training for professionals

The experts of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability (ISCES) will work as multipliers of FuturHist project results. ICOMOS will exploit the Knowledge-HUB to prepare training material for professionals provided at the ISCES website. A series of online workshops will inform ISCES members and guide them in preparing professional training in several European countries, either as part of an existing continuing education unit or as a separate course within the architect’s framework.
