On May 26–29, 2026, the FuturHist team met for the sixth time, gathering in Linköping, Sweden – one of our demonstration site cities. During the meeting, partners discussed the advanced development of the FuturHist Toolkit, the status of the demo case, test results, and the next steps for implementation, validation, and dissemination activities.
Sharing updates on ongoing work
During these three days of meetings, we discussed topics such as:
- FuturHist Toolkit development – We reviewed the status of our digital assessment tool.
- Demonstration case updates – Partners from Spain, Poland, Sweden, and Scotland shared the latest progress on their demo sites, focusing on upcoming technical interventions.
- Innovative retrofit solutions – The team presented progress on new and innovative materials, as well as high-performance window retrofitting strategies.
- Heritage and energy assessment – We held workshops to refine how the project evaluates the impact of modern solutions on historic building values and how to accurately calculate energy savings.

Days two and three of the meeting at our demo case
The Swedish demonstration case is located at the Domkapitelhuset (Ågatan 65) in Linköping. The building is currently used as the Diocese Office.
The FuturHist project team attending the meeting in Sweden had the opportunity to visit and explore the building firsthand. The site visit enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the building’s characteristics, exchange experiences, and discuss possible approaches to its preservation, renovation, and sustainable use.

Combining work with time together
In addition to the project work, we also had the opportunity to spend time together and get to know each other better in a more informal setting.
During our stay, we explored the beautiful surroundings of Vårdnäs Stiftsgård and visited several important cultural and historical sites in the local area, including Linköping Cathedral and the Bishop’s Residence. These visits provided valuable insights into the local heritage while creating opportunities for meaningful conversations and exchange of experiences beyond the meeting agenda.
