The memories of our January meeting in Bolzano still linger as we work intensively like bees in a hive preparing for the next gathering. This time, we will meet in two Andalusian cities with a lot of history behind them, Sevilla and Córdoba, on 18-19 June 2024. Our host will be Agencia de Vivienda y Rehabilitación de Andalucia (AVRA), a project’s demo case administrator.
FuturHist’s demonstrator is located at Plaza de la Corredera in Córdoba, a heritage building of high architectural and historic value. As part of our meeting in Spain, we will visit the site. The building dates back to the 17th century and is the oldest in our FuturHist project. Its function is residential, with public social housing for rent. The construction comprises solid brick load-bearing walls (70-90 cm thick), wooden floor slabs, and a gable roof with wooden beams and Arabic tiles.
Eurac Research, a FuturHist coordinator, along with the University of Innsbruck, Natürlich Bauen, and Holzmanufaktur, will support AVRA in selecting efficient active and passive solutions. The team will have to address, among other things, the need for cooling in the summer and heating in the winter, as there are no HVAC systems in the building. AVRA aims to minimise energy poverty, bridge the social and economic gap between residents of historic social housing and others, and enhance capacity and know-how through FuturHist. While in Spain, we will focus on analysing and defining the local building typology and other tasks related to FutureHist. If you’re interested in the findings from our meeting, please stay connected to read our summary, which we will publish at the end of June.
